Entomo-pathogenic nematode-based Galleria cadaver technology for insect pest management

Background:
The available formulations of EPN wherein the delicate and sensitive nematodes are subjected to un-natural biological processes, do not provide the required quality (poor survival) and nematode fitness (reduced pathogenicity) for insect control. In the present :
innovation we adopted the natural biological process of releasing EPN in the field via Galleria cadavers. Each cadaver releases up to 250,000 nematode juveniles, which are healthy and actively seek and kill the pest. :
Technology Details:
The Galleria mellonella larva is the natural host for EPN in which the nematodes reproduce and multiply. The Galleria cadavers infected with nematodes are incorporated directly into the moist soil. Nematode juvenile emerges in hundreds and thousands and actively spread in the soil and kill any insect pest coming in contact- white grubs, termites, root-borers, foliar pests which hide in the soil during day or dig for pupation like- semi-loopers, cutworms etc. Because the nematodes are produced in their natural host and are not subjected to any unnatural process (gel or powder formulations), each juvenile is healthy and pathogenic providing highly effective insect control. Alternatively, the nematodes can also be harvested from the Galleria cadavers and applied as soil drench or as foliar application in specific ecological niche suitable for nematode survival.
